Artist Bio

For over a decade, professional artist Roger Reyes aka Roger Eyes R. established creative connections with school districts, cities, communities, groups, & organizations within Orange County and the surrounding area.

“I’m a firm believer in - Art Brings Us Together

This first-generation, supportive husband, father and leader is an active member of his art community. Studied fine art, design, & animation in college and later made a name for himself as a live-painter, art instructor and serial collaborator to his fellow contemporaries. Developed his own unique painting technique ‘Color Resolution’ or Color-Rez” for short. But It wasn’t until 2013 when as a founding-member of the the Santa Ana Community Artist(a) Coalition (SACAC) he began painting mural projects with inner city neighborhoods of his hometown of Santa Ana he delved into a socially engaged art practice. In his first solo show he immersed himself in the US workforce and experienced a labor intensive job for exactly one year. Interviewing and painting portraits of the folks he met, and first accessibly exhibited his work in plain-air in 2018.

Recipient of numerous accolades, most notably recognized by the Congress of California for artistic contributions to culture earning him the reputation of community-conscience muralist and creative producer of accessible art projects. Secured his first international artist residency in Akumal, Mexico awarded by local nonprofit organization, Community Engagement in 2022. Became art director of his highly acclaimed coalition (SACAC) one year later and in partnership with Mural Colors, together restored Sergio O’Cadiz’s mural relief masterpiece on display at Fremont Elementary School (SAUSD). Roger then turned his attention to his city art grant project and solely realized “Santa Ana Reflections”. A personal 180 x 30 ft large-scale mural & love letter to his hometown followed by an archival exhibition of the mural developed in partnership with CREAR Studio gallery, featuring an all new art installation “Every Which Way”. An exemplary contemporary arrangement of tools and materials used in the mural making process.

As of the start of this year, this inspiring, multidisciplinary talent enjoys an artist residency at CSUF’s Grand Central Art Center (dtSA) producing contemporary work focused on personal themes; expanding on his overall study of the relationship between objects and the space they occupy. And continues to lead his coalition’s and project-partner’s efforts in the preservation of historic and culturally iconic local works of art.
